GSoc
Accepted in Google Summer of Code again :)
I would be working to make an online presentation module for Xwiki. I would be mentored by Jérôme Velociter who is a software engineer at XWiki.
Udit and Mayank also have been selected. And luckily, both of them would work for same organization i.e. OLat.
Udit would be working on creating a feed link for iCal (a calendar format by Olat).
And, Mayank would be working on developing a clipboard type application for Olat.
Time to code in Java again :-( :-) . Good luck all :)
Amazon Kindle
Amazon kindle is going international.
I sincerely hope that this news is true. Amazon kindle is a device to download e-books from amazon via wifi and read them on it. I already read lot of ebooks and it would be great if I could download them all on a device and can read them anywhere I go without the need of a bulky laptop.
I have heard that there is a similar product from Sony, but kindle is much better.
Though it is little costly, and spending on it in India is not a good option because of poor wi-fi connectivity, I would probably do it if I get the gsoc money. (And of course if it comes way before iPhone.)
PS: This post was written long agooooo … So, please don’t see the date of the news or anything else. I just wanted to post the draft, so posted it :)
Nothing to do
What should a person to do when he is so frustrated that he is not feeling like doing anything ? Anything at all.
I thought that I should get a haircut.
Picked my cycle.
Started cycling towards Tech Market.
While passing by the HJB hall, a thought came in my mind, that why not complete a 2.2Km round and then go for haircut. It was with no doubt better than doing nothing.
Completed one round.
Same thought again swooped in.
Completed another round.
And then again and again and again …..
And after 22 Kms, I thought enough of cycling for today, now let’s get the haircut.
Started cycling towards Tech Market.
While passing through HJB, a thought again came into my mind :
Damn, its Monday.
I knew I love you
Maybe it’s intuition
But some things you just don’t question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I’ve found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There’s just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I’m searching for
I think I’ve found my way home
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I’ve found you
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
Bol Tara Bol
That’s my horoscope for today (TOI)
=> There have been so many positive changes in your love life recently that you can’t quite believe your luck.
Yes right. Huh! F U .
=> Keep on taking care of yourself and your health.
He He. I will try to. I don’t get time for such mundane things.
=> Don’t let a misunderstanding cause the rot to set into a close relationship.
This happens with me all the time. Still, I will try.
=> New revenues are just around the corner.
I hope so. It’s been a long time since that last happened.
K2K – In search for water
Every year, over 500,000 children in India never reach the age of 5 because of water-related diseases like diarrhea, gastroenteritis, hepatitis. Over 300 million Indians have no access to toilets. Already, 224 million Indians live in water stress in river basins, and more than 67% of the country’s renewable water is in areas that serve 33% of the population. About 70% of irrigation needs and 80% of municipal water supplies come from groundwater sources. However, depleted aquifers and lowered groundwater tables mean that this is no longer sustainable. It has been estimated that by as early as 2020, India’s demand for water will exceed all sources of supply.
Can we make a difference? One individual thinks so. And one organization is supporting him in his mission for the cause of water.
On April 26th 2008, Sharada Prasad will start a 19,000 km Motorcycle Ride across India. The objective of Sharada’s ride is to discover what water means to people across the country. The problems faced by people with respect to water are different in different parts of the country. Please, support this cause by visiting
